« To speak of "good taste" invariably turns out to mean either one's own taste, or perhaps the taste of those that one admires most... Good design means something more permanent and more fundamental than being tasteful.»
This page is dedicated to a very dear to me place in NYC.
It is the Upper East Side Hot Power-Vinyasa Yoga Studio called (naturally) Some Like It Hot whose owner and creator, Yola Romeo, has been a long time arts patron in addition to her amazing dedication to serve the yoga community with one of a kind environmentally friendly studio. To learn more about this blessed place of transformation, please visit them on the web: www.somelikeithotyoga.com
The images below are the result of our creative collaboration - a small part of Yola Romeo's everlasting quest in making her clients' inner and outer worlds ever more beautiful and in creating a sacred space where renewal of our mental, physical and spiritual energy can take us ever higher.

Vernacular Culture Design was in charge of creating a cohesive design and color scheme for the main studio which was to incorporate the existing fine art sculptures; as well as painting the new murals of the sacred Lotus Flower for the wall and ceiling in addition to harmoniously blending all new finishes with the existing wall colors and finishes.
The following images show some details of the mural work: Please click to enlarge

The images below are from the foyer and reception desk areas of the studio [Some Like it Hot Yoga , E.63rd Street, Manhattan, NY] where sections of the wall space were accentuated in terra-cotta and gold faux finish and further embellished with auspicious OM symbols. The design was chosen to convey the fiery, purifying qualities of this type of Hot Power Vinyasa Yoga, where in the process of the practice an internal fire is awaken; the body gets rid of toxins and becomes an open receptacle to renewed energy. The blessings of Om welcome all to this wonderful world of possibilities.
